Introduction
Low's Translator is a Discord translation bot with a web dashboard. It translates messages on demand (right-click, slash command, or emoji reaction) and can automatically translate whole channels, while giving everyone a personal account with their own language, preferred engine, and monthly allowance.
This guide covers everything you need as a user (translating messages and managing your settings) and as a server admin (configuring the bot for a server you manage).
What the bot can do
- On-demand translation. Right-click any message and choose Apps → Translate, use
/translate, or react with a country flag or your personal emoji. Images work too: right-click a screenshot and the text inside it is translated. Wrap part of a message in[[double brackets]]to keep it untranslated. - Channel auto-translation. Pick a channel and target language, and every new message is reposted, translated, as the original author. Edits stay in sync.
- Voice & audio. Translated transcripts of voice messages, text-to-speech with
/speak, and live translated captions for a whole voice channel with/transcribe(Max). See Voice & audio. - Explain, not just translate. Right-click a message and choose Apps → Explain to have AI unpack idioms, slang, and tone in your language.
- Your own account. A target language, a preferred translation engine, formality, a personal glossary, a monthly character allowance, and optional purchased character packs.
- Per-server configuration. A default language, flag reactions, a server-wide translate emoji, a shared glossary, an independent auto-translate engine, and optional public server stats.
- Free characters for referrals. Invite friends and you both earn bonus characters, with extra milestone rewards as your total grows. See Referrals & rewards.
- A web dashboard. Usage charts and a yearly recap, plan management, settings, a notifications inbox, an optional weekly digest, and a help center for support. There's a desktop layout and a mobile layout.

/settings(personal) and/serverconfig(admin) are interactive panels that edit the same personal and server settings without leaving Discord.
Three translation engines
The bot can translate with DeepL, Azure, or OpenAI, and falls back between them automatically so a translation almost always succeeds. Each has different strengths, and you choose your favourite in your settings. See Translation engines.
How translation is metered (read this first)
Every plan has a monthly character cap. Translating consumes characters from that cap, then from any purchased character packs (which carry over month to month and don't reset).
Two things are worth knowing up front:
- On the Free plan, the high-quality DeepL engine is available for a small monthly allowance, after which translations automatically fall back to Azure. Paid plans get unlimited DeepL.
- The OpenAI engine is uncapped, which is what "unlimited translations" means. OpenAI translations never count against your monthly cap and are never blocked by it. The cap only applies to DeepL and Azure.
