Role translations
Channel auto-translate is tied to a channel. Role translation is tied to a member: give someone a language role and their messages get translated everywhere, not just in configured channels.
This is ideal for the few members who don't speak your server's main language: instead of translating whole channels, you translate just those people, in every channel they post in.
How it works
Set up a role → language map on the Servers page (or with /serverconfig). For example, map a role "Non-English" → English. Any member who holds that role has their messages translated into English whenever they post something that isn't already English, in any channel. If they write in English, nothing happens.
- The role's language is the target: a Non-English → English member who writes German still gets translated to English (German isn't the target language).
- If a member has several language roles, the highest one (by Discord role position) wins.
- Reposts reuse the same author-webhook machinery, message styles, and edit-syncing as channel auto-translate.
What it skips
So nothing is translated twice, role translation leaves alone:
- Channels that already have channel auto-translate: those handle the message themselves.
- Linked channels: they bridge on their own.
- Any channel on the role-translation exclude list (set it on the Servers page): handy for a
#françaischannel where French is expected. - Messages already in the role's target language.
Plan & billing
Role translation is a Pro/Max feature, billed to the admin who set it up; it inherits that admin's plan, character cap, and the "AI engines are uncapped" rule, exactly like channel auto-translate. If they run out of metered characters it pauses and DMs them.
Access control (blocklist and required role) applies here too. See Settings & server config.
