Questions
Can Discord translate voice messages on its own?
No. Discord transcribes voice messages in some clients, but it does not translate them. You need an app like Low's Translator to get the transcript in your own language.
Do I need to add a bot to the server?
No. Low's Translator installs on your own Discord account, so it works in any server, DM, or group chat - including servers where it is not a member and where you are not an admin.
Does it work on live voice channels?
Yes. /transcribe produces live captions in a voice channel, translated as people speak. It is part of the Max plan.
Is voice translation free?
There is a free monthly allowance for speech-to-text and text-to-speech, and the free plan includes 15,000 translation characters a month. See the plans page for the exact limits.
